Who is my advisor, and how can they help?

Jason Burgess is licensed by the state (North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and South Carolina) and certified to instruct and answer any question relating to Medicare Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D, as well as Medicare Supplements (Medigap) and Medicare Advantage plans. He and his staff are appointed to you, and are responsible for making sure your questions are answered now and in the future.

As a Medicare recipient you have two options that help fill in the gaps of your Medicare benefits — and this is where most people find the greatest frustration. It’s our job to explain both of them clearly. Once you understand Medicare and your two options, you should feel confident moving on to discuss companies and plans.

If there’s a specific company or plan you’re interested in, Jason will go into detail on it, making sure you’re aware of its strengths and its weaknesses. If you’d like us to do the work on your behalf, just ask for a local review of the plans available in your area. That’s done at no cost to you, and we’ll give you a recommendation based on the lowest cost and best coverage available.

How much will Senior Plan Advisors cost me?

Nothing. We don’t charge fees for our service.

By state law your advisor must be licensed, certified and insured, and must meet stringent background checks. For your protection, states require that discussions about any kind of insurance — homeowners, auto, life, health — be held by a licensed agent or broker.

The premium for Medicare insurance is approved by each state based on age, gender and tobacco use, and is offered to everyone at the same price. No insurance company, agency or broker may charge more or less premium to an individual for any reason. Whether you call your chosen insurance company directly, meet their local agent, or work with an independent advisor like us, you pay the same amount.

That’s where our clients find the value. When we make a recommendation it’s based on the merits of the plan’s price and benefits — it has no bearing on the name of the company. We have no allegiance to any insurance company. Our loyalty and commitment is to you. If the company you choose later makes a policy or premium change that isn’t in your best interest, we may well recommend you move to another one.
